What s Holding Back This Item Upgrade Industry
WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades give you boost in specific statistics. Each upgrade boosts the level of the item by +3. Each upgrade also increases a random substat.
The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless it has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like eth Titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the necessity to roll to get a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. The item used to upgrade the item level upgrade is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create the enchantments.
The upgrader is located in every major city, and can be visited at any time to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended to visit the upgrader every couple of weeks to keep your equipment up-to-date.
Upgrades can cost more based on the item upgrader kit level, but they will always be cheaper than buying new equipment. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are useful items that can be used to level up weapons and tools, armor and other accessories. They are purchased by players from NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for different currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any tool, weapon, or armor. The button will show the item's next upgrade level, if there are enough materials.
Upgrade costs vary depending on the item slot, and the current level of the item. For instance, weapons will cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to reduce the cost of the Flightstones or crests that are used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain level, it can be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lower amount of the two currency types.
Item upgraders can be found in a variety of locations on the main island, as well as a few outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount and a chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases when more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete certain achievements or complete quests.
Unlike Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no upgrader for items in the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead, the NPCs that can be used to upgrade are acquired via several methods which is both an improvement but also a drawback.
In Season 3 the upgrade system has been altered a bit, with some new features added. After the player has upgraded to a certain item level for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same level will cost less. This is true regardless of whether the items are from another set of equipment.
The discount is available to all accounts. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players reach certain achievement milestones.
Crests
Players have several options when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specific and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1, and come in 4 ranks.
First, you must be aware that crests are only available for equipment that is of a particular rank. Each rank has a different upgrade path. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade is 15 crests. The most complex upgrade can require up to 20 crests, based on the kind of equipment that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by finishing content at the appropriate level. This could be by doing outdoor activities, or by taking on dungeons and raids of any difficulty to earn lower-tier gear or Mythic+ raid bosses or dungeons with a heroic difficulty for gear in the endgame. The crests can later be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade pathways and steps.
Using these new currencies isn't too difficult however, the system introduces some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, once an Item Level Upgrade reaches the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is designed to allow players to get their equipment up to the highest level possible for all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.
It's also crucial to choose crests with care, since they only have one use. For instance, it's best to make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests on the best equipment available, and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you're planning to make. This is particularly true for items such as rings and trinkets that occupy several slots. The account-wide discount will only apply when all the slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
