An Intermediate Guide Towards Upvc Door Handles
Types of UPVC Door Handles
It's important to choose the correct replacement Upvc handle for your home if handles are in need of replacement. A locksmith can offer and install high-security uPVC door handles that have additional security features.
The most important measurements to take are the measurement A (also known as PZ) and the length of the backplate. Make sure to check these measurements to ensure your new uPVC handle will fit.
Lever/Lever
A lever is a rigid rod that pivots around a point. When you apply a force at the end of the lever it is likely to cause it to turn the fulcrum to the direction of the force applied. This motion increases the applied force, allowing you to lift or move something that would require a greater amount of force if you were to apply it directly to the load.
The distance between the fulcrum of the lever and the point at which you apply force determines the maximum movement. This is referred to as the mechanical advantage. The advantage of mechanical force increases as the lever gets extended. You can calculate the mechanical advantage by dividing distance from the fulcrum point to the place where you are applying force by distance between the fulcrum point and end of lever.
Levers can have different effects based on how the force is applied. For example a lever of class 2 is inclined to turn in the opposite direction as the force applied to it (like a totter-totter). The forces created by pushing on the handle of a front door will create rotational effects similar to those.
However, levers don't create energy. They simply multiply the force you apply by changing a small amount of effort over a large distance into a greater amount of force applied over a smaller distance. Levers are used to lift heavy objects and move massive amounts of cargo. This is also the reason behind the levers you find in a variety of everyday tools such as crowbars and fishing rods, claws for hammers, and even your own legs when you stand on the hand brake of your vehicle.
Lever/Pad
Lever pad handles are a kind of door handle made of upvc with levers on both sides to operate the multipoint lock. These come in many variations and finishes and are suitable for a variety of materials like UPVC, Aluminium & Timber doors. They are sold in pairs for the outside and the interior doors, with spindles and screws included. They are available both hand and unhandled versions to accommodate different types of users.
They are typically used for new builds and can be fitted to replace existing doors made of upvc. The levers are lifted to open the multipoint locks and the key is turned to lock or close the door. They are more secure when compared to lever handles for doors as the locking operation can only be accessed from the inside with keys unless the door is locked.
They are not as safe as a cylinder lock but they are cost-effective ways to provide extra security to your home. The only drawback is that they don't provide the same level of security as a cylinder lock, and so don't prevent external access to your home if the door is left open.
The majority of lever pad door handles made of upvc that we have in stock are manufactured by the industry's leading manufacturers and therefore are made from high quality components. They are also generally supplied with a manufacturers guarantee.
Typically, they will be designed to be compatible with a 92mm lock or the replacement version known as a Paddock lock. They will feature an 82mm cylinder centre on the inside, and 62mm outside. They also come with two spindle followers. Some are fitted with the back plate while others are removable to allow for different fixing centres.
Lever/Snib
Lever latches, which are the simplest of door handles are used. The lever is pushed downwards to activate a simple latch inside the door that can be locked using keys. Some lever privacy handles operate in the same way, but with the addition of a lock snib (like knobs for doors).
A snib can be extremely useful tool, particularly in homes where privacy and security are crucial. You can use the snib button to stop your partner from entering until they are ready. This kind of handle is also popular in doors that are inside such as bedrooms, where you may require a lock to prevent access from the outside.
In some instances, snib buttons can cause problems, especially when you have older locks or doors that are warped. If the snib button is accidentally pressed, or by a person who isn't familiar with it, the door could shut and lock you out. In most cases, you can get in by knocking on the door frame or the letterbox, but this isn't ideal.
If your uPVC door is equipped with a snib-button We recommend replacing the handle with a modern E-LOK 7-Series smart lock. They can be retrofitted to pull handle kits that double turn and are available with cover plates to hide existing holes to make it a seamless installation. The E-LOK application can be used to unlock doors using RFID cards or a mechanical key. Passcodes are also offered to ensure security and convenience. The system has been tested for 200,000 cycles in order to ensure long-lasting durability. The handles are constructed of solid metal and are in compliance with BS EN 1670 Grade 5 for corrosion resistance.
Lever/Moveable Pad
This popular handle style is commonly used on front doors. It is advantageous because it has the benefit of preventing the door being opened without a key from the outside if the lock has not been deadlocked. This is accomplished by using a 'pad-shaped' external handle for double glazed window that locks into the gap between the handle and the lock case.
This type of handle is designed to fit uPVC doors fitted with multipoint locks that operate using split spindle operations. This kind of operation requires the internal lever handle and the external pad handle to be fitted on the same lock case. This can be a simple change from the current upvc door handle replacement handles, but it might also require changing the lock case or a brand new set of handles to accommodate this additional functionality.
These aluminium lever/movable pads door handles are designed to be used on uPVC and feature an unmaintained slide bearing. They also include fixing lugs, spring cassettes, and a non-stick slide bearing. These handles have a euro-profile cut out, and can be installed on a variety of uPVC or doors made of timber.
The lever-movable pad is available in many finishes to suit a wide variety of multipoint locks. They are designed for use with split spindle locks with an 92mm centre cylinder and require a special set of split spindles that is supplied by the lock maker.

Lever/Moveable Snib
The lever handle is one of the most popular kinds of door handles made of upvc and comes in a variety of styles. It is made up of two handles that can be moved and locked with a thumbturn cylinder or the use of a key. A pad handle is an alternative to a lever/lever handle. It is made up of an adjustable or fixed pad that can be used to control the lock. These Fullex handles feature a spring lever pad as well as a snib, which can be activated in order to secure the latch.
