9 Things Your Parents Teach You About Item Upgrader
World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
The upgrade of an item can be used to improve the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade, it may raise an item's Mark level or Rarity, and also boost other stats.
Upgrades to equipment in The War Within requires a specified number of Flightstones and Crests and each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next one by a set amount.
Item Level
The value of an item's stats base increases as it is upgraded. This is the sum of all the leveled up perks (attack magic attack, attack defense). Upgrades can be expensive, dependent on who you employ and what you do. This is because of how many perks must be replaced to allow the item to get upgraded.
It can also be used as a gating requirement when waiting for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It is also used to determine a gating condition when queueing for dungeons, raids and scenarios, and to limit the amount of PvP gear that a player can wear (since PvP is limited to a lower level). Players can view their average level of item on their character sheet.
When deciding whether to buy or sell equipment players can evaluate the level of an item. It's a useful gauge of an item's worth and the amount of damage it is capable of dealing with. Comparing items in a vendor's stock can be done using the level of the item.
On PC, you are able to see the level of the item using ALT, or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will show the item's full description, including ilvl. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing in /itemlevel chat.
There are many theories about how the item level is calculated. One theory is that the level is a numerical value derived from a formula that calculates how much an item's stats are worth. It takes into account the fact that different perks have different values and that gems in sockets add to the overall value of the item. This process can result in a calculated amount for the item's ilvl, which is typically close to the actual Blizzard item level.
However, this isn't the only factor that determines the ilvl of an item, because the level of the region the item was dropped in could change the value of its stats, for instance by adding an additional level to its crit rating or haste rating. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have higher value than items dropped in lower-level instances.
Item Stats
Item stats are a big element in what makes or breaks an item for players. The game makes use of them in a variety of ways to encourage players not to restrict themselves to a particular weapon, and to encourage players to experiment with other weapons. The stat mods on weapons boost base stats. These stat mods are then enhanced by a player's skill.
The upgrades to items add by increasing certain stats of the item. The rarity of an item determines the upgrade cost. For instance, a grey or white item can only be upgraded once, whereas an item with the rare levels will be upgraded multiple times, at higher costs.
Affixes are another way to change an item's stats. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and are available in all sizes and shapes. The affixes can do things like give the item additional damage, or add a unique ability to the item (such as reviving dead or cutting down the duration of cooldowns) or make the item unique by adding an exclusive name to the item.
All affixes can be currently re-rolled by selecting them in the upgrade window pressing the green button. This procedure will cost the player a specific amount of gold and other items, which can be added to the upgrade gauge in the same way as other options for rerolling.
In addition to rerolling affixes, players can select which stats to be kept on an item after it is upgraded. The range of stats is determined by the item's level. However every item upgrading will include at least one stat within the range, unless they are a unique item or a God Roll from a raid boss.
Another thing that could be altered by introducing an option to upgrade the equipment without rerolling the affixes or deciding which stats to increase. However, as with the base equipment, this would have to be carried out on a per-item basis, and the interface for item comparison will not show all the stats that could be that were gained or lost at the same time.
Item Luck
The Luck stat of a player can increase the likelihood of locating items as well as the properties generated by loot, and the intensity of these properties. However, it does not directly affect damage or ability to upgrade items. It gives the player the chance to upgrade their gear earlier in the game. This is especially advantageous in the early game, since players tend to prioritize the scaling of weapons and defenses over raw damage gains.
In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the chances of success when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This isn't to be confused with the Blacksmith’s overall upgrade chances, which increase with each item level. These can also be increased with the use of anti-materials, such as a Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.
Armor, shields and weapons can be made or spawn by using the Luck property, which has a default value of 40. These items can then be enhanced by golden ingots, spined leather, or oak boards (depending on the material of the item) to grant an additional +40 Luck, or to increase the Luck of the item up to 140.
Certain items, like the Hollow-infused weapon, can also be equipped to increase the damage dealt by any ability that deals damage by 5%. These items are available in the shop or crafted by using the appropriate ingredients.
Item Failure
Not all upgrades are successful. Cash shop items can be used to boost the chance of success of an upgrade or to stop players from losing their item if it fails.
The success rate of an upgrade can be seen in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the likelihood of successful upgrading an item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special materials. The probability of success can only be increased so much, and the likelihood that an upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%.
The Luck of an item can also influence the success of an upgrade. Every item has an initial success rate of 25% and every item with Luck increases that chance by five percent.
The upgrade overlays for items are rendered above items in the inventory. This can cause obscurity to enchantment effects or other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
