World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades can be used to improve the stats of a particular item. Depending on the type of upgrade you choose, it can boost the rarity of an item or mark Level and boost additional stats.

Upgrading equipment in The War Within requires a certain number of Flightstones and Crests and each item upgrader comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the price of the next item by a specific amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's basic stats increase when it is upgraded. This value is the sum of all of the perks that are leveled up (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be expensive, depending on who you hire and what you do. This is due to the number of perks that must be modified to upgrade an item.

The level of an item is a widely used measurement of power and is visible on all item tooltips. It can also be used to limit how much PvP gear players are able to wear, since PvP is limited at a lower level. Players can see their average level of item on their character sheet.

When deciding whether to purchase or sell gear players can evaluate the levels of the item. It's a useful gauge of an item's worth and how much damage it is capable of causing. Comparing items from the inventory of a vendor is possible using the level of the item.

The level of the item can be seen by pressing the ALT key on a PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will display the item's full description, including ilvl. It can also be found by hovering over an item using the mouse cursor, and then entering /itemlevel into chat.

There are many theories about the method by which the level of an item is determined. One theory says that the item level is calculated using formulas that determine the value of an item's stats actually are. It considers that different benefits are valued differently and that gems found in sockets boost the value of the item. This process can result in a calculated value for the item's level, which is typically close to Blizzard's actual item level.

It's not the only factor that affects the ilvl of an item. The level of the area where the item was dropped may change its stats. For instance, it could add a level to the item level upgrade's haste or crit rating. Items dropped in higher-level instances will have a higher ilvl.

Item Stats

The item's stats can determine the fate of an item for players. The game utilizes them in various ways to encourage players to not limit themselves to a single weapon and to encourage players to experiment with other weapons. The base stats on a weapon are increased by the weapon's stat mods that are in turn boosted by the player's level.

The upgrades to an item can boost its stats. The rarity of an item determines the upgrade cost. An item that is white or grey for instance, will only be upgraded once, while an item with rare tiers can be upgraded multiple times at more expensive costs.

Affixes are a different method to alter the stats of an item. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and they come in all shapes and sizes. The affixes are used to provide items with extra damage or other special capabilities (such as the ability to revive dead or reduce cooling downs) or to differentiate them by adding a name.

At present, all affixes can be modified by selecting them in the upgrade window and pressing the green button, which is accompanied by the arrows that circle. This process will cost the player a certain amount of gold as well as items which can be added to the upgrade gauge in the same manner as other options for rerolling.

Players can choose to upgrade an item by specific stats or reroll affixes. The stat ranges are determined by the item's level. However every item will include at least one stat within the range, unless they are a unique item or the item is a God Roll from a boss in a raid.

Another thing that could be changed by adding an option to upgrade the equipment without having to reroll the affixes or choosing which stats to increase. As with the base equipment, this would have to be done per item and the item comparison interface wouldn't display all possible stats at once.

Item Luck

A player's Luck stat stacks up to increase the chances of finding items and the properties that are spawned from loot drops, and the intensity of those properties. It does not, however, directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It merely gives players the chance to upgrade their equipment earlier in the game, and is therefore more beneficial in the initial game run than later ones because most players value more powerful weapon scaling and defenses over the raw damage gain.

Luck can also increase the chance of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chance which increases with each level and can be further increased by using an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

The shields, armor, and weapons have a default Luck value of 40. These items can be enhanced by golden ingots, spined leather, or oak boards (depending on the material of the item) to grant an additional +40 Luck or to increase the existing Luck of an item, up to 140.

Moreover, certain items, like the Hollow weapon that is infused with hollow can be outfitted to increase the damage dealt by any damage-dealing skill by five percent. These items can be purchased at the store, or they can be crafted using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades are successful. Cash shop items can be used to increase the success rate of an upgrade, or to protect players from losing their item in the event that it does not work.

The success rate of an upgrade is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage indicates the probability of successfully upgrading the item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special Materials. The chance of success can only be increased by so high, and the probability that the upgrade will fail cannot be greater than 100%..

The performance of an can be affected by the Luck of that item. All items have an initial success rate of 25% and each item with Luck increases that chance by 5percent.

Note that upgrades to items are rendered above the items in the inventory therefore enchantment glints and other effects can be obscured by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
