World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades can be used to boost the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade you choose, it can increase the rarity of an item or mark Level and increase other stats.

The process of upgrading gear in The War Within requires a specified number of Flightstones and Crests and each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a set amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's base stats increase when it is upgraded. The value is the sum of all the upgraded advantages (attack, magic attack and defense). Upgrading items can be expensive dependent on the upgrader and what kind of upgrade you decide to do. This is because of how many perks need to be replaced to allow the item to get upgraded.

It is also used to enforce gating requirements when queueing for raids, dungeons and scenarios. It also serves to limit the amount of PvP gear players can wear, since PvP is limited at a lower level. The average item level can be found in the character sheet.

The level of an item upgrader mod will allow players to compare the strength of equipment when deciding to purchase or sell. It's a useful indicator of the quality of an item and how much damage it will be able to deal. Comparing items from the inventory of a vendor is possible using the level of the item.

The level of the item can be seen by pressing the ALT key on a PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will show the item's full description, including the ilvl. It can also be located by hovering over an item using the mouse cursor and typing /itemlevel into chat.

There are a few theories on how the calculation of the item's level is made. One theory says that the level of an item is calculated by an equation that determines the value of the stats of an item really are. It is based on the fact that different advantages are valued differently and that gems in sockets increase the item's value. This can result in a calculated item's ilvl that is often very close to Blizzard's actual level of the item.

It's not the only factor that affects the value of an item. The location of where the item was dropped may change its stats. For example it can increase the item's haste or crit rating. Items dropped in higher-level instances will have a higher ilvl.

Item Stats

The item's stats can determine the fate of an item for players. The game uses them in various ways to encourage players not to limit themselves to a single weapon and to encourage them to try out other weapons. The stat mods of weapons boost base stats. These stat mods are then increased by the player's level.

Item upgrades add to that by increasing certain stats of the item. The rarity of an item determines its upgrade cost. For instance, a grey or white item can only be upgraded once, while items with rare tiers can be upgraded many times at higher prices.

Affixes can also be used to change an item's stats. They are stat boosts which can be added by the player to an item. Affixes are used to give items extra damage or other special abilities (such as reviving dead or reducing cooling downs), or to differentiate them by adding a name.

Presently, all affixes are able to be modified by selecting them in the upgrade window and pressing the green button with circles arrows. This will cost a specific amount in gold and other items. They can also be used as upgrade gauges, similar to other methods of rerolling.

In addition to the possibility of rerolling affixes, players may also choose which stats to keep on an item when it is upgraded. The range of stats is determined by the item's level. However each item will have at least one stat within the same range, unless it's an exclusive item or an item that has a God Roll from a boss in a raid.

Another thing that could be changed is the option to upgrade equipment without having to reroll the attaches, or select which stats to increase. As with the base equipment, it must be done per item, and the item comparison interface wouldn't display all possible stats simultaneously.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player can increase the likelihood of locating items as well as the properties spawned by loot and the intensity of these properties. It does not, however directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It merely gives the player a possibility to obtain better equipment in earlier waves, and is therefore more valuable in the initial game run than later ones because most players value higher weapon scaling and defenses over the raw damage gain.

In addition to influencing item discovery, Luck also increases the chance of success when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chance of upgrading, which increase with each new level of item. These can also be increased with the use of anti-materials, such as a Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

Weapons, shields, and armor can be made or spawn with the Luck property, with a default value of 40. These items can be augmented by using golden ingots or spined leather (depending on their material type) to increase the value of 40 luck or to boost an item's existing Luck up to 140.

Furthermore, certain items, such as the Hollow weapon, which is infused with Hollow, can be equipped to increase the damage dealt by any damage-dealing skill by five percent. These items can be purchased at the store or constructed using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Upgrades to items can be expensive and not every upgrade will be successful. However, there are some cash shop items which allow players to increase their success rate or prevent themselves from losing an item in the event that the upgrade is unsuccessful.

When you upgrade an item the rate of success is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the probability of successfully upgrading the item, and it can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limits to how much success rates can be increased and the probability of a failed upgrade cannot exceed 100%..

The performance of an can be affected by the luck of that item. Every item has an overall success rate of 25 percent and each item with Luck increases the chance of success by 5%.

The item upgrade overlays are displayed above items in the inventory. This can obscure enchantment effects and other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
