Components

Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into armor, weapons and trinkets to provide an additional stat boost or impact while they're being used. They can be obtained by crafting, buying from vendors, trading or looting. Some upgrades also have specific cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be placed in equipment that has a slot to accommodate them; the item must be at a minimum upgraded to blue level to allow a component to be inserted. Infusions and Enrichments are type of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet legendary and ascending equipment, as as some non-ascended items. A suffix or prefix can be added to an upgrade, thereby changing the name of the item it's used on (for example 'Canthan Armor Insignia',' changes to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase the Mark Level or Rarity of an item, allowing players to create stronger versions of the item using fewer Upgrade crystals than they need to reach the same level using normal methods.

A boost upgrade can change the attack or defence characteristics of a weapon, or armor. These upgrades are available to be crafted from the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene, and defeats the Crazed Mechanical.
