Is Pushchair Just As Important As Everyone Says
Choosing a Double Pushchair Twin
When you have twins, you'll need a double pushchair to take them from A to B. Our range includes a range of twin prams as well as double buggies with various configurations to meet your family's needs.
Look for a stroller travel that can be folded in one step and then easily tucked away into your boot. You may also want a lightweight design that's easy to navigate and manoeuvre especially when you have busy high streets to traverse.
Side-by-Side
They are the most popular type of double pushchair and can typically seat 2 children side-by-side. They're generally larger than single pushchairs car seats. This can make them less able to maneuver on footpaths. It is also difficult to navigate up and down kerbs when the car seat is in place. The extra width allows them to move more easily through doors and are more evenly distributed so that it is easier for you to carry them on your back.
They can be used as twin prams from birth, and many models can accommodate a carrycot or two car seats. Some can even be converted to one mode by adding an additional basket (like the Cybex Venus).
The Bugaboo Donkey 5 is a perfect example of this. In Twin Mode, you can put the rear seat next to the carrycot. This creates a totally enclosed space for twins, and is perfect for babies. The pram is also equipped with a couple of really neat accessories, including newborn cocoons which can be positioned to face either direction (for twin-facing prams) or facing inwards (for a standard single). It's not as light as some other options, but it's very well thought out.
Lightweight
Cybex is known for its unique pushchairs, and the single-to-double is no exception. The frame can be extended to accommodate a second seat. You can use the pushchair as twins from birth by putting in two cocoons for newborns for a total of PS59. These cocoons are enclosed and create lie-flat spaces. The large shopping basket that is behind the seat allows it to be used in mono mode for a single child. It comes with front and rear suspensions, so it can handle bumps and uneven surfaces more easily. Our reviewers chose this car as their top choice.
Available in a variety elegant colors.
Tandem
If you plan to have twins, you'll need a tandem pushchair. This allows the children to sit together and look at each other. These are great for things such as visiting the zoo because the kids will be able to gaze at all the animals together. They are also ideal for parents who wish to keep an eye on their toddler and baby at the same time.
Some tandem pushchairs are very adaptable, since they can be converted back to single mode. This is especially handy for families with more than two kids (or only your oldest child does not require a buggy anymore). This means you won't have an empty pushchair that you need to store away which can be expensive.
For instance the Cybex Venus can be used in both mono and double mode and has a smart frame that opens wide to accommodate a second seat. This isn't the heaviest of pushchairs, however it comes with a large shopping basket which is located behind the front seat in double mode (and behind the seat in mono mode). The seats can be positioned to face each other or one can be positioned higher up so it can see over the other and see what they're up to.
Double tandem pushchairs, such as the Joolz Geo 3, are capable of seating one over the other or side-by-side. The sleek, compact strollers frame makes it easy to maneuver through doorways and aisles in supermarkets. Some models can be used on rough terrain or for a jogging walk thanks to their wide rear wheels and four-wheel suspension.
A tandem pushchair can be used to transport two carrycots, or a car and buggy seat. This allows you to build a best travel pram system right from the outset and save money on additional purchases. It is important to remember that tandems can be heavier and longer than single pushchairs, and can feel less stable as you go over uneven surfaces. They also require dismantling in order to fit into cars.
